Muscat Marathon Kicks Off with Wide International Participation

Thirteenth Muscat Marathon Draws 15,000 Participants

Muscat: Around 15,000 runners from various countries took part today in the launch of the thirteenth edition of the Muscat Marathon, held over two days in a sporting and social event marked by strong public participation and international diversity.

This year’s marathon was staged at Al Khuwair Square in Muscat Governorate, as part of an approach aimed at diversifying hosting venues and enriching the experience of both runners and spectators. The location provided a vibrant and integrated environment that enhanced participant engagement, increased audience interaction, and created a distinctive sporting atmosphere reflecting the success of this edition.

The marathon attracted a wide spectrum of participants, including elite professional athletes, amateur runners, families, and first-time participants. The races featured multiple categories, including the full marathon, half marathon, 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races, in addition to the fun run and children’s races.

It is noteworthy that the Muscat Marathon was recognized in 2018 by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) as one of the region’s most prominent sporting events, and it is also accredited by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
