National product loyalty programme enhances citizen and consumer confidence in the quality and efficiency of the local product
Muscat: The National Product Loyalty Program, which is supervised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in coordination with the concerned authorities and the private sector, works to support, introduce and promote the national product and urge consumers to choose Omani products, which is a participatory responsibility among the various segments of society.
The program aims to motivate consumers to choose Omani products to contribute to ensuring the continuity and growth of local companies, and is expected to constitute great opportunities in enhancing the confidence of citizens and local consumers in the quality and efficiency of the local product and its ability to be a priority in the daily consumption of citizens and residents.
Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information indicate that the manufacturing sector contributes 8.1 percent of the total GDP at current prices, and a contribution of 9.3 percent of the total GDP at constant prices by the end of the third quarter of 2023.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion confirmed that Omani products are witnessing wide and good demand by national and resident consumers, as this is due to several reasons, including the quality and standard specifications that the Omani product enjoys and qualifies it to compete in local and international markets, noting that purchasing the Omani product is a support for the economy. National, which contributes to increasing the economic return to the Sultanate of Oman and contributing to increasing the domestic product.
The Ministry stated that the “Made in Oman” campaign contributed to enhancing community awareness of the importance of purchasing Omani-origin products, supporting Omani producers and exporters, and drawing global attention to the quality of Omani products. The combined efforts of local and international companies investing in the Sultanate of Oman were an important factor in the success of the campaign.
The Ministry indicated that applying standard specifications, technical regulations, and best practices contributes to strengthening the national industry and protecting it from unfair and unfair competition to ensure material gains for the national economy, in addition to encouraging innovation, improving local investment, and regulating the relationship between buyer and seller at the national level.
Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: The loyalty program for the national product will work to support, introduce and promote the national product and urge consumers to choose Omani products, which is a shared responsibility among the various segments of society.
He added that we must join hands to support national industries, starting from the government side, by providing more facilities and incentives to Omani industrial institutions to enable them to enhance production and enhance competitiveness in the business environment, stressing that the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the official representative of the private sector in the Sultanate of Oman, is working to implement the goals of For the loyalty program for the national product according to a number of axes emanating from the strategic directions of the Chamber that are consistent with (Oman Vision 2040).
He pointed out that loyalty to the national product depends primarily on the issue of awareness among the consumer, and this awareness includes introducing the national product to be an essential choice for the consumer and also instilling confidence in the consumer that loyalty to the national product is an urgent necessity because of the major economic implications it represents in the sustainability of the country. Private sector institutions, enhancing export capacity, improving the balance of payments, expanding the economic base, and increasing the contribution of non-oil activities to the gross domestic product, in addition to stimulating local investments, attracting foreign investments, and creating job opportunities.
Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Industrialists Association, said: Supporting the local product contributes to achieving many economic and social goals, including: supporting the national industry, which contributes to increasing local production, creating new job opportunities, and enhancing the added value of the national economy. , Increasing job opportunities, which will reflect on the development of exports.
Supporting the local product contributes to increasing the competitiveness of Omani products in local and foreign markets, and enhancing self-sufficiency, which contributes to reducing dependence on imported products.
He stressed that Omani factories are capable of achieving these goals, especially with the great government support for the national industry, pointing out that the Omani Industrialists Association will play an integral role with the government in the awareness aspect, by launching awareness campaigns to inform citizens of the importance of preferring the Omani product and making it the first choice in their purchases.
Dr. Rajab bin Ali Al Owaisi, an expert in social and educational studies at the State Council, explained that the frameworks, concepts, guidelines, alternatives, options, and educational and educational stations that the loyalty program carries, will form a renewed image in reproducing the new reality of the national product in the local market and correcting misconceptions. Which will be reflected in its purchasing value in the market and the competitive prices it offers compared to other similar products.
He stressed that the qualitative value of the loyalty program for the national product is not limited only to the quality of the product, confidence in it, and maximizing its presence in the citizen’s consumer basket and the list of his daily requirements, but rather in the growth it gives to the local product, an active movement of production, and the operation of small and medium enterprises and emerging companies in light of the growth in the level of local production. For products, goods and merchandise, and a balanced reading of the local market, in light of continuous measurement and serious surveys of market needs and product development with diversification in its options.
