Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him, was born in the city of Muscat on the “Hijri Date” corresponding to the 11th of October 1955 .

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received his primary education at the Saidia School in Muscat. His father, the late Sayyid Tariq bin Taimur, was keen for his children to receive modern education, so His Majesty Sultan Haitham joined one of the Lebanese schools, Broumana High School, to receive education in the middle school.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, did not stay in Beirut for long, as he left in 1972 for the United Kingdom to continue his high school and then university studies, where he joined one of the most prestigious universities in the world, the University of Oxford at Pembroke College.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik is also sports enthusiast, as he headed the first Omani Football Association during the period from 1983 to 1986.

During his career, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik was awarded several royal medals, which he received from Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may God rest his soul,

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik,  took power in the country on January 11, 2020, succeeding the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, may God rest his soul, in a smooth transition to power in the Sultanate that was appreciated and admired by the world.
