Oman Airports Handle 7.69 Million Passengers by End of July 2026

Muscat: The total number of passengers travelling through the Sultanate of Oman’s airports, including arrivals, departures and transit passengers, reached 7,689,967 by the end of July 2026, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The figure represents a decline of 8.1% compared to 8,366,273 passengers recorded during the same period in 2025.

The data showed that the total number of international flights arriving at and departing from Muscat, Salalah and Sohar airports reached 45,904 by the end of July 2026, down 9.5% from 50,747 flights during the corresponding period of 2025.

Muscat International Airport

Muscat International Airport recorded 49,315 international and domestic flights by the end of July 2026, a decline of 7.3% compared to 53,170 flights during the same period in 2025.

The airport handled 6,855,942 passengers, down 8% from 7,453,204 passengers during the corresponding period last year.

International flights at Muscat International Airport reached 43,970, declining 8.4% from 47,986 flights. The number of passengers travelling on international flights stood at 6,164,584, a decrease of 9%.

Meanwhile, domestic flights through the airport increased by 3.1% to 5,345, compared to 5,184 flights during the same period in 2025. Domestic passenger traffic also grew by 2% to 691,358 passengers, compared to 677,837 passengers.

During July 2026, Omani nationals recorded the highest passenger movement on incoming and outgoing flights at Muscat International Airport, with 204,591 passengers, including 95,111 arrivals and 109,480 departures.

Indian nationals ranked second with 169,751 passengers, comprising 99,958 arrivals and 69,793 departures, followed by Bangladeshi nationals with 46,665 passengers, including 23,171 arrivals and 23,494 departures.

Salalah Airport

Salalah Airport recorded 5,569 international and domestic flights by the end of July 2026, down 5.3% from 5,881 flights during the same period in 2025.

Passenger traffic at the airport reached 797,620, a decrease of 8.4% compared to 870,616 passengers during the corresponding period last year.

International flights declined by 30.8% to 1,864, compared to 2,693 flights, while international passenger traffic fell by 32.9% to 246,257 passengers, compared to 367,168 passengers.

In contrast, domestic flights through Salalah Airport increased by 16.2% to 3,705. Domestic passenger traffic also rose by 9.5% to 551,363 passengers, compared to 503,448 passengers during the same period in 2025.

Sohar and Duqm Airports

Sohar Airport recorded 122 international and domestic flights by the end of July 2026, down 6.2% from 130 flights during the same period in 2025.

The airport handled 5,150 passengers, a decline of 24.6% compared to 6,831 passengers during the corresponding period last year.

International flights at Sohar Airport increased by 2.9% to 70, compared to 68 flights previously, while international passenger traffic declined by 33.2% to 199 passengers.

Domestic flights decreased by 16.1% to 52, with passenger traffic reaching 4,951, down 24.2%.

Duqm Airport recorded 326 domestic flights by the end of July 2026, a decline of 9.4% compared to 360 flights during the same period in 2025.

Passenger traffic at Duqm Airport decreased by 12.3% to 31,255 passengers, compared to 35,622 passengers during the corresponding period last year.
