Oman, UK Hold 18th Joint Working Group Meeting in Muscat
Muscat (ONA): The 18th session of the joint Oman-UK Working Group meeting was held today in Muscat, co-chaired by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, and Stephen Doughty, Minister of State at the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom (UK).
The two sides also explored ways to enhance these relations and expand their horizons across a number of fields of mutual interest, including benefiting from British expertise and experiences in the fields of developing education, vocational training, and sports, alongside discussing ways to revitalize the tourism movement and enhance cultural exchange and participation between the two countries.
The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, particularly current developments in the region. They also highlighted the efforts exerted by the Sultanate of Oman toward finding diplomatic solutions to the existing situation in the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to de-escalation and promoting security and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Liane Saunders, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Sultanate of Oman, alongside a number of officials from the Foreign Ministry and representatives of concerned government entities.
