

Oman Banned import of 10 species of live crustaceans from China
Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries issued Ministerial Resolution No. 208/2020 on banning the import of live crustaceans from the People’s Republic of China.
In a statement issued online @agrifishoman said: Ministerial decision banning the import of live crustacean species, their products, derivatives and offal from the People’s Republic of China. This decision comes upon the recommendation of the competent veterinary authority until the reason for the ban is removed and a decision in this regard is issued.
The decision excluded from this the products, derivatives and residues thereof, which are processed or heat treated in accordance with the Aquatic Animals Health Law issued by the World Organization for Animal Health.
The following annexed decision specifies the live crustacean species, which are banned from import from the People’s Republic of China.
1, Pacific White Shrimp (Penaeus (Litopenaeus) Vannam)
2, Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium Rosenbergii)
3, Louisiana Swamp Crayfish (Procambarus Clarkia)
4, Oriental Freshwater Shrimp (Macrobrachium Nipponense)
5, Oriental Prawn (Exopalaemon Carinicauda)
6, Red Claw Crayfish (Cherax Quadricarinatus)
7, Chinese White Shrimp (Penaeus (Fenneropenaeus)
8, Chinensis Superb Freshwater (Shrimp Macrobrahium Superbum)
9, Cladocerans (Water Fleas) (Order Cladocera)
10, Crab, (Eriocheir Sinensis and Pachygrapsus Crassipes)

The decision was based on the Veterinary Quarantine Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 45/2004, the executive regulations of the Veterinary Quarantine Law issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 07/2008, and the recommendation of the competent veterinary authority regarding the ban on importing live crustaceans, their products, derivatives and offal from the People’s Republic of China.
