Beijing: The Sultanate of Oman participated today in the official opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games hosted by the Chinese city of Hangzhou, which will continue until the 8th of next October, with the participation of more than 12,000 athletes competing in 40 sports, at the “Big Lotus” Olympic Stadium. “.

The ceremony was opened by Chinese President Xi Jinping in the presence of the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and a number of world presidents, their highnesses, and ministers of sports and youth on the Asian continent.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the opening ceremony by His Excellency Basil bin Ahmed Al-Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, and His Excellency Nasser bin Mohammed.

Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the People’s Republic of China, and Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kushari, Secretary General of the Oman Olympic Committee, Head of the Omani delegation participating in the tournament. The flag of the Sultanate of Oman was carried in the queue for the opening ceremony by the player of our national hockey team, Sami bin Awad Al-Lun, and Ibrahim bin Salem Al-Muqbali from the shooting team, with the participation of the official mission of the Sultanate of Oman and a number of national team players.

Citizens of Hangzhou, students and young actors participated in the ceremony and the entire performance. Three-dimensional dual projection technology was used in the ceremony. A large space for the first time, and the digital lights ceremony was implemented for the first time in the history of the Asian Games, in addition to raising the official flag of the tournament. Today, the national hockey team will open its participation in the 19th Asian Games by meeting the Chinese team, the host of the tournament. Yesterday morning, the team conducted its last training session to raise its level and readiness in preparation for the upcoming confrontation on the floor of the Gongshu Sports Stadium Canal Garden Complex.

The hockey team seeks to achieve victory in the match and the three points. Within the second group, which includes Korea, Malaysia, China, Thailand, and Indonesia, in addition to our national team. Later, the duo of our national beach soccer team (Mazen Al-Hashemi and Noah Al-Jalboubi) will meet with the Kazakhstan team in the matches of the sixteenth round of the beach soccer competitions, while the duo of our national beach soccer team, Ahmed Al-Hosani and Haitham Al-Shuraiqi, will meet with the Qatar national team.
