Oman guest of honour as Riyadh International Book Fair 2023 begins

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is the guest of honor at the Riyadh International Book Fair, which opened on Thursday 28 September and continues until October 7 with the participation of more than 1,800 publishing houses from 32 countries.

Mr. Saeed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture, said: The participation of the Sultanate of Oman as a guest of honor in the Riyadh International Book Fair comes as an affirmation of the bonds of love and rapprochement between the two brotherly countries, and an embodiment of the distinguished cultural relations and issues of concern to culture and the Arab thinker, adding that participation is important.

A major event for the Sultanate of Oman, in order to introduce its cultural, historical, intellectual, literary and artistic components.

Khalfan bin Mohammed Al Abri, Director of the Department of Exhibitions Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, explained that the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the Riyadh International Book Fair consists of many Omani intellectual products with the participation of a group of institutions, namely: the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Sultan Qaboos University, and the Cultural Club. The Omani Society of Writers and Writers, and the Oman Memory Center.

He added that the Sultanate of Oman Corner has an exhibition of rare Omani manuscripts, a number of different Omani publications, an exhibition of fine arts, artistic and musical performances, a display screen broadcasting short promotional and tourist films about the Sultanate of Oman, and a special corner for VR technology, noting that there is a corner for the Omani Council that introduces the visitor.

Omani customs and traditions, and there are many folk arts that will be presented in the front square of the exhibition, to include the participation of two Omani bands: the Al-Balad Musical Band, which will present several concerts for the Saudi public, and the Heritage Folk Arts Band.
