Oman Tops Group to Secure Spot in 2026 Asian Games Hockey Tournament
Bangkok: The Oman national hockey team has officially qualified for the 2026 Asian Games, set to take place in Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October, after securing its third consecutive win in the ongoing qualifiers in Bangkok.
The national team booked its place following a 2-1 victory over Hong Kong in a closely contested match that reflected strong technical performance and competitive spirit.
The result places Oman at the top of its group standings with a full tally of 9 points, ahead of Indonesia with 6 points and Hong Kong with 3 points, while Thailand and Kazakhstan each have one point.
Oman began its qualifying campaign with a 4-1 win over Indonesia, followed by a 2-1 victory against Thailand, demonstrating consistency in performance, defensive organization and attacking effectiveness.
Player Osama Ramadan was named Player of the Match, marking the third consecutive time an Omani player has received the accolade during the tournament.
The qualifiers feature nine Asian teams divided into two groups, competing for spots in the upcoming Asian Games.
