Muscat (ONA): The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman reached 3.2 percent during July 2026 compared to the corresponding month of 2025, while the average inflation rate for the period from January to July of the current year stood at 2.9 percent.
Data from the Consumer Price Index issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages group recorded the highest year-on-year increase among the major groups, rising by 7.3 percent, followed by the Transport group with 6.5 percent, then the Miscellaneous Goods and Services group with 5.3 percent, the Restaurants and Hotels group with 3.6 percent, and the Furniture, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group with 3.1 percent. Prices for the Education group rose by 2.2 percent, Health by 1.7 percent, and the Culture and Recreation group by 0.4 percent.
Meanwhile, prices for the Communications, Tobacco, and Clothing and Footwear groups remained unchanged compared to July of the previous year, while the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels group recorded a decline of 0.6 percent.
At the governorate level, A’Dhahirah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate across the Sultanate of Oman during July 2026, at 4.4 percent, followed by A’Dakhiliyah Governorate at 3.7 percent, then Muscat Governorate and Al Wusta Governorate at 3.4 percent each, followed by South A’Sharqiyah Governorate and Musandam Governorate at 3.0 percent each, and Al Buraimi Governorate at 2.8 percent.
The inflation rate stood at 2.5 percent in both North Al Batinah and North A’Sharqiyah governorates, and 2.4 percent in South Al Batinah Governorate, while Dhofar Governorate recorded the lowest inflation rate among the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, at 2.1 percent.
