Oman, Iran Underscore Determination to Continue Settlement of Region’s Issues By Peaceful Means

Tehran: Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian today held a press conference in Tehran within the context of the official visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Sayyid Badr said that the visit of His Majesty the Sultan to Iran constitutes an extension of the deep-rooted bilateral relations and will usher in a new era of concerted action aimed at achieving fruitful cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Sayyid Badr pointed out that the two countries will join hands in activating bilateral agreements that they signed with the prime objective of enhancing cooperation in various fields, including oil, gas, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, industry, seafaring and establishing direct links between Omani and Iranian ports.

He underscored the two countries’ keenness to continue to resolve and find peaceful solutions for issues and developments in the region.

For his part, Dr. Hossein said that the meeting that took place between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the Iranian President focused on various political, economic, commercial and cultural issues.

He added that the meeting also laid emphasis on consolidating bonds of cooperation on maritime transport, activating shipping lines between the two countries and reviewing agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides.

The Iranian minister commended the Omani foreign policy, its stands on regional and international issues and the positive role that the Sultanate of Oman undertakes in realizing regional security and stability. – ONA
