Oman launches inaugural Girls’ School football league

Muscat: The school football championship for girls in the Sultanate of Oman was launched today, which is organized by the Omani School Sports Federation in cooperation with the Omani Football Association during the period from 4 to 6 March.

The launch of the tournament was sponsored by Sana bint Abdul Rahman Al Khanjariya, Member of the State Council, and in the presence of Lujaina Bint Mohsen Al Zaabiya, Member of the Board of Directors of the Oman Football Federation and Head of the Federation’s Women’s Sports Committee.

Lujaina bint Mohsen Al Zaabiya said in a press statement: The school championship for girls in the Sultanate of Oman will begin tomorrow in coordination and cooperation between the school and football federations, explaining that the goal of holding the tournament is to create a football team for girls, as football is one of the important sports in the world and our goal in the committee Women in the Football Association are to support and refine talents to represent the Sultanate of Oman well in various sports tournaments. Tomorrow, at the beginning of the tournament, (8) matches will be held, with the draw resulting in the distribution of the eight educational directorates into two groups.

The first group included Al-Dhahirah Educational, Al-Dakhiliya Educational, Al-Buraimi Educational, and Muscat Educational, while the second group included Al-Wasta Educational, North Al-Batinah Educational, South Al-Batinah Educational, and Dhofar Educational.

The two teams that finish first and second from each group qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
