Salalah: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with a number of government entities, has launched the “Sustainable Dhofar” campaign to promote sustainability and innovation and engage the community in developing solutions to environmental and urban challenges in Dhofar Governorate.
The campaign is being implemented in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, Dhofar Municipality, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Environment Authority, Oman Airports and Oman Transport Company.
The initiative seeks to promote sustainable development and enhance quality of life by empowering young people and national talents to present innovative ideas and initiatives. It also aims to strengthen partnerships among government institutions, the private sector, academic institutions and entrepreneurs.
Abdullah bin Ali Al Busaidi, Director General of the Oman Logistics Center, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the campaign complements the Ministry’s efforts to promote green mobility practices in the Sultanate of Oman.
He noted that the campaign coincides with the second edition of the Gulf Green Forum in Salalah, reinforcing Oman’s efforts to adopt sustainable solutions in the transport sector.
Al Busaidi explained that citizens, visitors, investors and entrepreneurs can submit ideas and proposals through the “Amed” platform, launched alongside the campaign to receive initiatives focused on logistical and digital sustainability.
The campaign seeks to support local ideas and transform promising initiatives into viable and investable projects, while building a database of innovators and entrepreneurs that can contribute to future sustainability initiatives in Dhofar.
The expected outcomes include establishing long-term partnerships, increasing community awareness of sustainability issues and developing a database of innovators and entrepreneurs to support future projects in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and sustainable development goals.
