Historic Victory: Oman Claims First-Ever 2025 Asian Hockey Federation Cup Title

Jakarta: Oman’s national hockey team won the 2025 Asian Hockey Federation Cup for the first time in its history, after defeating Chinese Taipei 4-3 in the final match, held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, with the participation of 10 Asian teams.

Bangladesh finished third after defeating Kazakhstan 3-0 in the third-place match. With this victory, our national hockey team qualified for the Asian Cup finals, scheduled to be held next August in India.

The final match witnessed great competition and excitement between the two teams.

The first quarter began with an offensive pressure from Chinese Taipei, who managed to open the scoring early through player Wei Cheng-Zi in the fourth minute, after an organized attack during which he was able to surprise our national team’s defense and score the first goal.

However, our national team was not affected by the early goal, but rather quickly organized its ranks and began to put pressure on the opponent’s goal. In the twelfth minute, the referee awarded a penalty corner kick in favor of our national team, which was successfully executed by player Rashd Al-Fazari, scoring the valuable equalizer.

The first quarter ended in a 1-1 draw after a balanced performance from both sides. As the second quarter began, the determination of our national team players became more evident, as they dominated the midfield and created numerous dangerous opportunities close to the opponent’s goal. In the 22nd minute, Shafi Al-Shatri was able to translate the team’s advantage into a second goal following a swift and organized attack.

Oman national team continued to press, and in the 27th minute, they managed to score the third goal through player Elias Al-Noufli after a precise pass inside the opponent’s area.

Despite our team’s superiority, Chinese Taipei reduced the difference by scoring its second goal through player Tsung-Yu Shih in the 29th minute, and the second quarter ended with our national team leading 3-2. The third quarter saw intense efforts from both teams, and Chinese Taipei managed to equalize once again with a goal scored by Huang Lin-yu in the 43rd minute following a swift counterattack.

However, our team’s resolve did not wane, as Ayman Madit scored the fourth and decisive goal in the 45th minute, taking advantage of a great opportunity in front of goal. In the fourth quarter, our national team played with a high level of focus to maintain its lead.

Oman defense demonstrated great resilience, managing to repel repeated attacks from Chinese Taipei. Our goalkeeper also excelled in blocking several dangerous opportunities.
