Oman Minister of Foreign Affairs tweets after taking the oath before His Majesty the Sultan Haitham

Muscat: His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said through his Twitter account today that he was honored to take the oath in front of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik,  may God protect him.

In his tweet, His Excellency added, “I pray to God Almighty to always be at the good expectations of His Majesty and at the level of this national responsibility, and worthy of carrying the trust for the sake of Oman, its progress, prosperity and honorable international presence.

Former Minister responsible for foreign affairs His Excellency Yusef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, from 1997 AD to 2020 AD.

His Excellency Mr. Badr Al-Busaidi, born in 1960 AD, is considered the first minister in the Sultanate to be named “Minister of Foreign Affairs” after amending ministerial names from “Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs.” (Royal Decree No. 99/2020 amending some ministerial names) to “Minister of Foreign Affairs.”

His Excellency has held several previous positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including :

– First Secretary in 1988.
– Counselor in 1990.
– Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995.
– Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000.
– Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2007 AD.

His Excellency was awarded the “Star of Italy: in 2015 , and the“ Legion of National Honor ”from France in 2019.

It is worth noting that Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi holds a master’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics in 1986 from the University of “Oxford” in the United Kingdom.
