Oman Honors 122 Outstanding General Education Diploma Students

Muscat: The Ministry of Education today held a ceremony to honor 122 outstanding male and female students in the General Education Diploma and its equivalent for the academic year 2025/2026, in cooperation with Occidental Oman.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Saeed Baawain, Minister of Labour, and was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibani, Minister of Education.

Dr. Badr bin Hamoud Al-Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, said that the Ministry continues to work on developing the education system and improving the quality of its outcomes in line with national priorities.

He noted that these efforts seek to prepare generations equipped with knowledge, skills and values, while fostering creativity and innovation and enabling students to contribute effectively to Oman’s comprehensive development process.

Al-Kharousi affirmed that honoring the outstanding students reflects an integrated partnership involving families, schools, teachers and society, emphasizing the role of education and investment in human capital as key pillars of national development.

Nasser bin Issa Al-Maskari, Director of Social Responsibility at Occidental Oman, said that the ceremony celebrates students who have demonstrated diligence, ambition and determination, noting that these qualities are fundamental to achieving success and excellence.

He added that the company’s support for the program, which has continued for more than five years, stems from its belief that investing in people and education contributes to building a prosperous future and supports the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The Ministry of Education said that honoring outstanding General Education Diploma students reflects its commitment to supporting academic excellence, recognizing students’ achievements and encouraging them to continue their educational journey.

The initiative also aims to promote positive competition among students across educational directorates and reinforce values of ambition, diligence and perseverance among the younger generation.
