Salalah (ONA): The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Directorate General of Labor in Dhofar Governorate, organized today a fair job opportunities designated for persons with disabilities among the governorate’s citizens at the World of Continents Exhibition in the Ittin area in the Wilayat of Salalah. The event was widely participated by private sector institutions and establishments.
The opening of the fair was held under the auspices of Dr. Abdullah bin Hamoud Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Persons with Disabilities Affairs.
The fair witnessed the offering of more than 100 job opportunities across a number of fields, with the participation of 50 private sector establishments and companies, reflecting the growing partnership between the Ministry of Labor and the private sector in providing practical career pathways, enabling persons with disabilities to benefit from their abilities and qualifications, and integrating into the labor market on the basis of competence and equal opportunity.
Nasser Salim Al Hadhrami, Director General of the Directorate General of Labor in Dhofar Governorate, affirmed that the participation of 50 establishments in the fair represents an important indicator of the growing awareness within the private sector regarding the importance of employing persons with disabilities and capitalizing on their potential.
He noted that the fair is not limited to offering job opportunities, but aims to create direct engagement between job seekers and employers, thereby contributing to transitioning from the stage of searching for opportunities to achieving actual employment.
He explained that offering more than 100 job opportunities under scores the Ministry of Labor’s keenness to create diverse pathways for people with disabilities that align with their qualifications, capabilities, and labor market needs, pointing out that partnership with the private sector represents a fundamental pillar in the success of these efforts and in transforming job opportunities into a tangible reality.
The fair provides job seekers with the opportunity to meet directly with representatives of participating companies and establishments and conduct job interviews on-site, thereby streamlining the application and search stages, enhancing prospects for direct employment, and introducing employers to the talents of persons with disabilities and the qualifications and skills they possess that can be utilized across various sectors.
The organization of the fair comes within the framework of the Ministry of Labor’s efforts to establish an integrated system for empowering persons with disabilities and integrating them into the labor market, based on the principle that disability does not impede productivity and contribution, and that providing the right opportunity can transform individual capabilities into added value for the economy and society.
The fair also aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to enhance the effectiveness of employment policies and transition from merely presenting job opportunities to generating actual employment by building more effective partnerships with the private sector and directly connecting job seekers with suitable opportunities, while taking into account their capabilities, specializations, and the needs of the labor market.
