Oman Opens Two Major Road Projects in Al Dakhiliyah

Nizwa: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology today opened two road projects in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, aimed at enhancing the road network, improving traffic flow and supporting economic and tourism activity in the governorate.

The first project involves the road leading to the Oman Agriculture Development Company. The road, which extends for about 3.7 kilometres, was constructed at a cost of RO 1.076 million and connects the service road parallel to Sultan Said bin Taimur Road with the company’s industrial complex.

The project included the construction of a single carriageway, concrete-paved valley crossings, side protection works and traffic safety facilities, including directional and warning signs. The project was completed within approximately nine months.

The ministry also opened the completed section of the project to improve the efficiency of the Saih Qatna Road in Al Jabal Al Akhdar. The project covers 8 kilometres of a total planned length of 9 kilometres.

Salem bin Hamad Al Junaibi, Director of the Roads Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said the two projects form part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop and upgrade the road network across the Sultanate of Oman.

He noted that the projects will contribute to strengthening infrastructure in Al Dakhiliyah, facilitating traffic movement, supporting commercial and tourism activities, stimulating economic activity and enhancing local content.

The Saih Qatna Road project extends from the main road in Al Jabal Al Akhdar near the Dust Hotel in the heights of Hayl Al Yemen to Al Makhb area, passing through Shanout. The road has been equipped with traffic safety measures, including steel and concrete barriers as well as directional and warning signs.

The project is expected to improve traffic flow and facilitate access for residents and visitors to tourist destinations and residential areas, thereby supporting tourism development in Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
