Oman Joins GCC Meeting on Islamic Affairs and Endowments in Riyadh

Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, participated in the 11th Meeting of GCC Assistant Ministers Responsible for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, held at the headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh.

Oman was represented at the meeting by Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Rashdi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

The meeting reviewed a number of issues related to endowments and Islamic affairs, with emphasis on strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise and experiences among GCC member states.

Discussions covered scientific research and experiences in the field of endowments, including interactive seminars, as well as mechanisms for presenting national experiences in Islamic affairs.

The participants also discussed proposals related to Gulf Endowment Week, the establishment of a national index to measure the social impact of endowments, and the “Mafaz” competition aimed at raising awareness of endowments, charitable activities and voluntary work.

The meeting further reviewed a number of topics, including the architectural identity of mosque minarets between authenticity and renewal, a proposal on promoting cultural dialogue between East and West, and the establishment of a Gulf scientific observatory.

Other topics included developments in efforts to counter deviant ideas, a working paper on relevant developments, and initiatives related to the World Day of Endowment.

The meeting forms part of ongoing GCC efforts to exchange knowledge and expertise in Islamic affairs and endowments and enhance joint cooperation among member states.
