Oman partakes in Palestine book fair in the West Bank

Ramallah: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, is participating in the 13th Palestine International Book Fair kicks off today at the town of Surda some four kilometers north of Ramallah Under the slogan “From Nakba to the State,”

The opening ceremony took place under the auspices of His Excellency the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who was attended on his behalf by Dr. Muhammad Ashtiah, the Palestinian Prime Minister, in the presence of Chargé d’Affaires Salem bin Habib Al-Amiri and a number of ministers, officials and members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to Palestine.

390 Palestinian and Arab publishing houses from the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, the Emirates, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, as well as participating agencies from foreign countries, including Turkey, Britain, Canada and Italy, are also participating in the exhibition – which continues until the 17th of September.

The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion includes a multiple list of titles and recent publications, which include cultural, literary, artistic, jurisprudential and media aspects. The Omani poet Hassan Al Matroushi will also participate in an accompanying poetry evening within the activities of the exhibition in its current session.

This participation aims to introduce the Omani culture, highlight the bright cultural aspects of the Sultanate of Oman, highlight the Omani intellectual production, shed light on the heritage, literary and historical aspects, in addition to building bridges of communication with the brotherly Palestinian people.
