Oman participates in ‘Takamul 1’ GCC Joint Military Drill in Kuwait

Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Royal Army of Oman, participated today in the joint Gulf military exercise (Takamul 1) in the sisterly State of Kuwait with units of the ground forces of the armed forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Staff Engineer Dr. Ghazi Hassan Al-Shammari, Chief of the General Staff of the Army in the State of Kuwait.

The Royal Army of Oman participated in the joint Gulf exercise, represented by the Desert Battalion of the 23rd Infantry Brigade, along with the Peninsula Shield Forces (the ground component of the Unified Military Command of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries).

The course of the joint Gulf military exercise (Takamul 1), which is being held in the areas of Al Adiraa and Al Abraq Square, began with the raising of the flags of the countries participating in the exercise. Then, His Excellency Major General Engineer, toured the equipment of the participating units and the administrative equipment supporting the exercise. The joint Gulf military exercise aims to enhance the level of coordination between the participating forces.

The exercise constitutes an important part of the ongoing efforts to develop the Peninsula Shield Forces and enhance their combat capabilities to achieve their mission of supporting the forces of the GCC countries and supporting the preservation of their security and stability.

It should be noted that this exercise comes after the decision of the Supreme Military Committee of the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council in its fourteenth session, and it is the first field exercise in sectors carried out by the Peninsula Shield forces after the establishment of the unified military command.
