Oman’s Trade Balance Posts RO1.54 Billion Surplus in Q1 2026

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s trade balance recorded a surplus of RO1.54 billion by the end of March 2026, compared to a surplus of RO1.53 billion during the corresponding period of 2025.

Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the total value of merchandise exports reached RO5.3 billion by the end of March 2026, marking a decline of 8.5 percent compared to RO5.8 billion during the same period last year.

The total value of merchandise imports into the Sultanate of Oman also decreased by 11.7 percent to RO3.8 billion, compared to RO4.3 billion during the corresponding period of 2025.

The decline in merchandise exports was primarily driven by a reduction in oil and gas exports, which amounted to RO3.4 billion by the end of March 2026, down 13 percent from RO3.9 billion recorded during the same period in 2025.

Meanwhile, the value of non-oil merchandise exports stood at RO1.61 billion, compared to RO1.62 billion during the same period last year, reflecting a slight decline of 0.6 percent.

Re-exports recorded positive growth, increasing by 4.6 percent to reach RO367 million by the end of March 2026, compared to RO351 million during the corresponding period of 2025.

The United Arab Emirates topped destinations for Oman’s non-oil exports, with trade valued at RO382 million. The UAE also ranked first in re-exports from Oman at RO102 million. Total trade between Oman and the UAE reached RO1.1 billion during the period.

Saudi Arabia ranked second among destinations for Oman’s non-oil exports with RO201 million, followed by India with RO156 million.
