Muscat: The 19th Press Conference of the Supreme Committee on Covid-19 held on Thursday, 12 November 2020.

H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Saeedi – Minister of Health, member of the Supreme Committee

Minister of Health – The Sultanate has reserved a good amount of vaccines, and the goal is to vaccinate about 40% of the Sultanate’s population.

Minister of Health – Any vaccine or drug used in the Sultanate must be authorized in the country of origin, and therefore it takes time until it can be used in the Sultanate.

Minister of Health – There are multiple factors that affect the decline in the number of infected people in the Sultanate, including the commitment to precautionary measures and the decision to prevent movement that was made earlier.

Minister of Health – In the countries in which the number of the infected increased again, one of the reasons leading to this was the large number of gathering in closed places.

Minister of Health – The number of people who participated in clinical trials of some types of vaccine reached about 44 thousand people, and this number is very small compare to the millions of people who may need the vaccine later.
