Oman Sail, Asyad Shipping Launches Diveability Program for People with Disabilities

Muscat: Oman Sail, in cooperation with Asyad Shipping, has launched the “Diveability” programme to support persons with disabilities.

The programme provides weekly training sessions that guide participants from beginner level to Open Water certification, aiming to enhance physical and social well-being through diving activities.

A total of 30 participants will begin with introductory sessions in a swimming pool, offering a safe environment to experience diving. Of these, 15 participants will progress to open water training at the Daymaniyat Islands, while five will complete the full Open Water course, including additional dives to obtain an internationally recognised PADI certification.

The programme is delivered by PADI-qualified instructors from SeaOman at Al Amal Club swimming pool, before moving to Oman Sail’s Al Mouj Sailing School for open water training.

Laila Ali Ambusaidi, Acting Senior Sponsorship Sales at Oman Sail, said the initiative reflects efforts to support inclusion and expand opportunities in water sports for persons with disabilities.

Abdulnasser Salim Al Sinani, Diveability coach, highlighted the benefits of underwater activities in supporting physical rehabilitation and providing participants with new skills in a supportive environment.
