Oman Set for Asian Beach Games 2026 Opening Ceremony in China

Muscat:  The Sultanate of Oman will take part tomorrow (Wednesday) in the opening ceremony of the 6th Asian Beach Games, hosted by the Chinese city of Sanya from 20 to 30 April 2026.

Oman will be represented by national teams competing in football, volleyball, handball, athletics, and modern pentathlon.

The Sultanate’s flag will be carried during the opening ceremony by Mohammed Al Ghailani of the national modern pentathlon team and Aliya Al Mughairi of the national athletics team.

The Games bring together 1,790 athletes from 45 countries, competing in 14 sports and 61 events.

The Asian Beach Games were first held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2008. Oman hosted the second edition in 2010, followed by Haiyang, China (2012), Bangkok, Thailand (2014), and Nha Trang, Vietnam (2016). The event returns this year after a 10-year pause.
