FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup 2 Begins in Oman Today

Al Amerat: The Sultanate of Oman will host the 2025 International Hockey Nations Championship for Men, which will kick off today, Monday, and will continue until the 23rd of this month, at the Oman Hockey Stadium in the Wilayat of Al Amerat, with the participation of eight teams.

The participating teams were divided into two groups. The first group included the teams of Egypt, China, Chile and Poland, and the second group included our national team and the teams of Austria, the United States and Scotland. Each team in these groups competes to qualify for the semi-finals, where the first and second teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage.

The tournament will start tomorrow with four matches. In the first group, the Egyptian national team will meet the Chinese national team, the Chilean national team will meet the Polish national team, and in the second group, the Austrian national team will play against the United States national team, while our national team will meet the Scottish national team. The matches will start at 12:45 pm and continue until 7:00 pm.

On the second day of the tournament, the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, four matches will also be held, as the Chinese national team plays against Poland, Chile against Egypt, Scotland against Austria, and our national team against the United States. Saeed bin Khalfan Al Maamari, Vice President of the Oman Hockey Association and General Supervisor of the tournament, said that the organising committee has completed all preparations to host the tournament, explaining that the participating teams have arrived in the Sultanate of Oman, where they have started training camps that included a number of friendly matches with the Omani hockey team. These preparations aim to raise the teams’ readiness for official competitions.

He added that coordination is ongoing with the technical director of the Asian Hockey Federation to ensure the implementation of the required technical and organisational standards during the matches, especially with regard to the entry and exit of teams to the field in accordance with international regulations.
