Oman Supreme Committee says, decline in infections but hospital occupancy still very high

Muscat: The Supreme Committee in charge of discussing the mechanism of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) held a meeting this morning Tuesday headed by His Excellency Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior – Chairman of the Committee, and in the presence of all its members, at the General Office of the Ministry of Interior.

The committee was briefed on the epidemiological situation of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid 19) in the Sultanate, which indicates a decrease in infection rates in most governorates of the Sultanate, but hospital beds, especially the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) is still very high.

The committee also examined what a number of countries in the world are witnessing of a remarkable return to the spread of this disease after the opening of these countries for various activities, and the lack of vaccination and treatment for this disease so far, the Supreme Committee stresses that the most effective way to reduce its spread lies in adhering to preventive measures such as wearing masks. Physical distancing, maintaining hand hygiene, and other measures that adhere to, protect the individual, his family members, colleagues at work sites, and the rest of society from the risks of contracting the disease.

In its meeting, the Supreme Committee also reviewed a number of issues related to the effects of the pandemic in various fields and directed the competent authorities to study them so that appropriate decisions could be taken in this regard at a later time, confirming that all its decisions are based mainly on the epidemiological data of the pandemic, while minimizing as much as possible of its negative effects on Different sectors.

The Committee prayed to the Almighty Allah to protect everyone against all harms.
