Taif: The military volleyball team (futsal) concluded its participation in the third Arab Military Championship, which was held at the King Fahd Air Base in the city of Taif in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by obtaining second place after a strong competition with the participating teams.
Two players from the military volleyball team were also able to obtain individual awards at the tournament level. Civilian Saud bin Rashid Al-Maamari won the award for best blocking wall, and Sergeant Abdullah bin Salem Al-Muqbali won the award for best freestyle player in the tournament.
Colonel Joy Hamad bin Salem Al Balushi, Director of Military Sports at the Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and head of the Omani delegation, said: The participation of the military volleyball team in this tournament was successful by all standards. The military volleyball team proved its worth and was able to achieve second place and win the silver medal in the tournament.
Captain Nasser bin Amer Al-Sawai, the team manager, also said: “The players of the military team showed high technical performance and strong competition in the tournament, which reflected the efforts made by everyone, in good preparation for this tournament, which resulted in the military team achieving second place, and this participation comes to gain Exchanging experiences, raising the level of the team, and preparing for the upcoming tournaments.
It is worth noting that this external participation of the military volleyball team comes within the framework of the rehabilitation and training plans pursued by the Sultan’s Armed Forces to compete for military sports titles, as well as to enhance the level of sports performance, physical fitness, and technical skills, and to maintain the high level of the national teams that represent the Sultanate of Oman in Regional and international forums, in order to achieve the desired goals.
