Oman to Host Ironman 70.3 next week

Muscat: Represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Sultanate of Oman will host Ironman 70.3 Triathlon at Shatti Al Qurum (Qurum Beach) area on 4 February 2023.

The tournament will consolidate Oman’s status among leading global destinations for sports events.

It includes a swim in the waters of the Sea of Oman off Qurum Beach, followed by a bike race and a run that takes the athletes through the wonderful urban areas of Muscat.

The event will highlight Oman’s tourism attractions, including Muttrah waterfront, Al Alam Palace, the Royal Opera House Muscat and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, as well as the unique mountainous terrain surrounding Muscat.

The championship’s three stages are as follows: A swimming race for a distance of 1.9 km (1.2 miles), a bicycle race for a distance of 90 km (56 miles) and a 21.1 marathon (13.1 miles). The three races total 113 km, the equivalent of 70.3 miles.

Prior to the conclusion of the tournament, a fun run called “Ironkid” will be organized on 3 February for children aged 3 to 13 years.

An Ironman races village, to be hosted between 2 and 4 February, will comprise a variety of entertainment activities and items of interest to endurance sports lovers in Oman.
