Oman Concludes First-Ever Participation at Moscow International Book Fair

Oman Showcases Culture and Heritage at Moscow International Book Fair

Moscow  (ONA): The Sultanate of Oman has concluded its first‑ever participation with an official pavilion at the Moscow International Book Fair, held at the Gostiny Dvor exhibition center with more than 300 publishers from Russia and beyond, and featuring over 400 cultural and professional events.

Oman’s pavilion drew strong interest from across Russian society — including researchers, students, tourists and cultural enthusiasts — who explored Omani publications and discovered aspects of Oman’s culture, history, identity and civilisational heritage.

The participation aimed to strengthen Oman’s cultural presence abroad, leverage international fairs to showcase Omani intellectual and cultural output and open new avenues for collaboration with cultural and academic institutions, publishers and researchers.

The pavilion featured sections representing the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and Sultan Qaboos University, presenting a diverse range of publications reflecting Oman’s cultural, scientific and heritage landscape.

The pavilion attracted researchers and students of Arabic and Oriental studies, those interested in Oman’s maritime history, its presence in Zanzibar and Africa, and its ancient trade ties with Asia, as well as visitors who had previously been to Oman and sought to learn more about its culture, history and academic life.

The fair, which ran from 2 to 6 September with China as the guest of honor, featured a cultural and professional program addressing the future of books, publishing, literature, translation, culture, reading and the transformations shaping the content industry amid technological change.
