Lisbon: The Oman Racing Team, led by international Ahmed Al Harthy, won second place in the final round of the European Le Mans Series at the Portamio Circuit in Portugal.
Partnered as usual by British driver Sam De Haan and Danish racer Marco Sorensen, the trio delivered a series of excellent performances with Ahmed Al Harthy double sting at the beginning of the race.
Starting the 4-hour race at the Autodromo International do Algarve on a wet track, the Omani stored from 4th on the LMGTE grid to take the class lead and kept the squad squarely in the fight for victory, and certainly a podium, throughout almost 2 hours of exceptional driving.
At the end, the trio secured a very competitive runner-up result, their 2nd podium of the campaign, which also elevated them into a final championship finish of 5th in the (LMGTE) Driver Standings and 5th in the Team Standings for the Oman-Racing with TF Sport entry.
Al Harthy said:”I am absolutely delighted to finish on the podium in portamio and fly the flag for Oman, it’s the first time í have raced at the track and is a very nice way to finish the season off. We did the best we could, i had a start which was extremely tricky with track conditions which were very tough to race on, but i did my best.
