Oman’s honey production more than 38pc in 2019

Muscat: The Sultanate’s production of honey increased by 38.8% by the end of 2019, recording 615,752 kilograms compared to 443,477 kilograms at the end of 2018, while the production of dates increased by 2.2%, recording 376,982 tonnes by the end of 2019 compared to 368,940 tonnes by the end of 2018, according to the statistics are shown in the yearbook issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Statistics indicate that the highest amount of honey production in 2019 came in the governorates of North Al-Sharqiya and Al-Sharqiyah South, when the production hit 202,259 kilograms, followed by the governorates of North and South Al-Batinah with 185,391 kilograms and Al Dhahirah Governorate with 83,702 kilograms.

The production of honey in Dhofar governorate reached 59,246 kilograms, in Dakhiliyah Governorate 56,279 kilograms, and in Al Wusta Governorate 14,946 kilograms, while the production in Al Buraimi Governorate reached 6,959 kilograms, in Muscat Governorate 5,788 kilograms, and Musandam Governorate 1,182 kilograms.

As for the production of dates at the end of 2019, North Al-Batinah Governorate recorded the highest quantity of dates production, reaching 78,572 tonnes, followed by Al-Batinah South Governorate with 73,271 tonnes, and Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate with 67,607 tonnes.

The production of dates in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate reached 41,781 tonnes, while the production in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah of dates reached 39,995 tonnes.
