Washington: OpenAI has announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence (AI) model dedicated to cybersecurity, amid growing competition with rival firm Anthropic.
The company, developer of the ChatGPT application, said it has started rolling out the “GPT-5.4-Cyber” model, which is designed to detect software vulnerabilities and enable organizations to address risks at an early stage.
OpenAI explained that the model provides enhanced capabilities for testing systems and identifying weaknesses, offering users greater flexibility compared to earlier versions.
The model is currently available through the “Trusted Access for Cyber” (TAC) program, launched in February, which targets a select group of customers and cybersecurity specialists to evaluate advanced AI systems.
The move comes as competition intensifies between OpenAI and Anthropic in developing advanced AI solutions capable of handling complex programming tasks and vulnerability detection.
Earlier, Anthropic introduced its “Mythos” model, designed to identify security flaws across operating systems and web browsers. The company has limited access to a group of trusted partners, including major technology firms, to strengthen system protection.
