Oman Prepares to Welcome 8 Gulf Clubs for 41st Handball Championship
Muscat: The Organizing Committee of the 41st Gulf Club Handball Championship for GCC countries held a press conference today to reveal its final preparations before the start of the championship scheduled for the period from 15 to 24 of this month, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, represented by Oman Club, in cooperation with the Oman Handball Association, with the participation of 8 Gulf clubs, including Oman and Seeb clubs.
Jihad bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Championship and Vice Chairman of Oman Club, said that the championship competitions will be held in the main hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher, and the opening match will bring together Kuwait SC of Kuwait and Al Arabi SC of Qatar, while the host Oman Club will open its journey in the championship by meeting Dibba Al-Hisn team in the second group competitions, while the first group includes Al Rayyan SC of Qatar, Al Noor SC of Saudi Arabia, Al Najma SC of Bahrain and Al Seeb SC of Oman.
He added that Oman Club has completed its readiness to host this tournament for some time and has made great strides during the past period since the announcement of the club hosting this tournament. All aspects related to hosting have been prepared, including booking hotels, stadiums, transportation and other basic equipment for the tournament. The technical aspects of the tournament remain, which will be managed by the Gulf Technical Committee formed to manage the tournament, and all the basic requirements necessary for this hosting have been met.
He explained that the opening ceremony will be very simple, about 15 minutes, the ceremony will be after the first match at six o’clock and will include the entry of the teams and the media of the countries participating in the tournament competitions, and the tournament will be managed by 8 refereeing teams to manage the tournament competitions, including an Omani refereeing team consisting of Khamis Al-Wahaibi and Omar Al-Shehhi, a team from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia consisting of referees Mohammed Abdul Mohsen Malaika and Hussein Ahmed Al-Kaibi, a team from the United Arab Emirates including Mohammed Juma Thani and Omar Mohammed Al-Zubair, a team from the Kingdom of Bahrain consisting of Maitham Ibrahim Al-Aradi and Ahmed Mohammed Ali, and from the State of Kuwait Ahmed Abdullah Al-Jimar and Thamer Zain Al-Abidin Ashkanani, and from Qatar Mahboob Al-Naimi and Khaled Al-Shaib, and a neutral team chosen by the International Handball Federation.
