Oman Private Deposits Surge 12.45% by End of June 2026

Muscat: The total value of private deposits held with commercial banks in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 12.45 percent at the end of June 2026, reaching approximately RO19.37 billion, compared to RO17.13 billion during the same period in 2025.

According to the monthly statistical bulletin issued by the Central Bank of Oman, the total deposits comprised approximately RO5.22 billion in term deposits, RO6.54 billion in savings deposits, and RO7.28 billion in demand deposits.

The bulletin indicated that deposits in Omani rials amounted to approximately RO16.60 billion, while deposits in foreign currencies stood at about RO2.67 billion.

The ratio of total cash and clearing balances to Omani rial deposits reached 7 percent at the end of June 2026, while the ratio of total cash and clearing balances to overall deposits stood at 5.6 percent.

The ratio of total loans to deposits reached 102.9 percent, while foreign currency deposits accounted for 18.9 percent of total deposits.

The bulletin further showed that foreign assets represented 15.4 percent of total loans and 12.5 percent of total assets, while foreign liabilities accounted for 10.9 percent of total liabilities.

Private demand deposits represented 39 percent of total private deposits, while the ratio of capital and reserves to total deposits stood at 21.1 percent.

The ratio of provisions and retained interest to total credit reached approximately 5.5 percent.
