Muscat: ROYAL CARS MUSEUM Where the car tells a story of unique taste
The words of H.M. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may Allah protect him.
Today, we are pleased to open the Royal Cars Museum in Al-Baraka Palace, to allow the citizens and those who are interested in the car world to visit the Museum and view its collection.
The late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, May Allah have mercy on him, established this museum, and we are keen to preserve its collection and provide it with what it requires to make it an attractive destination for car lovers and every one interested in this field. We hope this museum will be an addition to the Omani cultural and civilizational scenes. Wishing success to the efforts of those in charge in order to achieve its vision and objectives, (Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik).
The idea behind the Museum
The Museum was established per the royal orders of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said. It began in the beginning of the 70s, when the late Sultan was passionate about the car world and preserving antique and unique cars. It started with two cars belonging to the late Sultan Said bin Taimur. Then the old cars of the two late Sultans were gathered in one place. Later, a number of modern and rare cars were eventually added. Then in 2012, the car Museum building was established. At that time, the Museum visit was limited to the private guests of the late Sultan.
Opening the Museum to the public comes per the royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and aims to introduce the collection of the Museum to the public. The Museum includes various types of vehicles that have received good care and attention over the past years. Opening the Museum also aims to make it a destination for those interested in the car world. Moreover, as per the royal orders of H.M. the Sultan, a number of cars that were used by His Majesty and cars that were used by the late Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur were added to the Museum.
Museum Location:
The museum is located in Al-Baraka Palace in the Wilayat of As’Seeb. This location indicates the Museum’s importance and the high interest it received from the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, in addition to the continued attention it receives from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
Visitors who pre-book tickets may reach the Museum through Al-Safinat Gate in North AlMaabilah in the Wilayat of As’Seeb that has been designated for the visitors of the Museum. Then, designated buses will transport visitors from the gate to the Museum, in accordance with regulations.
