Muscat: ROP arrests a man for blackmailing a girl on social media platform and urges social media users to report it immediately.
In online statement the Royal Oman Police said that: Al Buraimi Governorate Police Command has arrested a person accused of defaming a girl and violating the law to combat information technology crimes, as the accused blackmailed the girl and threatened her after he was able to communicate with her through a social media platform.
The Royal Oman Police called on social media users to report immediately when they are exposed to electronic blackmail and not to send private and personal photos via the Internet, and families and parents should educate their children about the dangers of these behaviors and follow up on their use of modern technologies.
