Tunis Hosts Seventh Edition of Carthage Puppet Arts Festival

Tunis: The seventh edition of the Carthage Puppet Arts Festival opened today, bringing together around 100 puppeteers from 16 Arab and foreign countries, representing 17 international and Arab troupes. The festival will run until 8 February 2026.

This edition features a diverse programme of performances for both children and adults, reaffirming the festival’s role as a key cultural platform for promoting the art of puppetry, which blends theatrical and musical expression.

The festival is being held as part of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the National Center for Puppet Art. Its programme includes human shadow puppetry performances, 15 specialized workshops on puppet-making and manipulation, two intellectual seminars, a puppet exhibition, and a trade fair aimed at promoting traditional industries.

Held annually, the Carthage Puppet Arts Festival has grown into an important regional and international event, fostering artistic exchange and preserving the cultural heritage of puppet arts.
