Oman Takes Part in 46th OCA General Assembly Meeting

Tashkent: Represented by the Oman Olympic Committee, the Sultanate of Oman today participated in the 46th General Assembly Meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.

Oman’s delegation was headed by Abdullah Mohammed Bamkhalif, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic Committee.

During the meeting, Sheikh Joaan Hamad Al Thani was elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia, becoming the 22nd leader of the Asian Olympic movement since the first Asian multi-sport games were held in 1913.

The elections were conducted in the presence of representatives of all Asian National Olympic Committees and were attended by Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The General Assembly also approved Qatar’s hosting of the 47th OCA General Assembly Meeting in 2027, with the exact date to be announced at a later stage.

In addition, contracts were signed to host the Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2029 and in Cambodia in 2031.

The meeting further reviewed preparations for several upcoming continental sporting events, including the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China (2026), the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
