Muscat : Sohar International strengthened its community impact during Ramadan through targeted initiatives in collaboration with the Al Noor Association for the Blind in Sohar and the Takaful Sohar Charity Team, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive empowerment and environmental responsibility. The bank supported a business development program for visually impaired individuals, equipping them with entrepreneurial skills, while advancing a recycling initiative across Sohar in partnership with the Takaful Sohar Charity Team—effectively linking environmental action with social impact.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, Chief Marketing Officer at Sohar International, stated: “Ramadan serves as a powerful reminder that sustainable progress is rooted in shared value. At Sohar International, our approach to community engagement is guided by a long-term perspective—one that prioritizes empowerment, inclusivity, and measurable impact. Through our initiatives, we aim not only to extend support, but to enable individuals and communities to build resilience and unlock opportunities that endure beyond the Holy Month. This reflects our broader commitment to contributing meaningfully to Oman’s socioeconomic development in alignment with national priorities.”
As part of its collaboration with the North Al Batinah branch of the Al Noor Association for the Blind, Sohar International supported a specialized business development program designed to support visually impaired individuals. The initiative equips participants with practical entrepreneurial and freelance skills, enabling them to build independent income streams and actively participate in the broader economic landscape. By focusing on capability development, the program moves beyond traditional support models to create sustainable pathways for empowerment and self-reliance. In parallel, the bank partnered with Takaful Sohar Charity Team to deliver an environmentally driven initiative aimed at promoting responsible recycling practices. This included the installation of recycling containers across Sohar, contributing to waste reduction while simultaneously supporting charitable causes through the proceeds generated from recycled materials. The initiative reflects an integrated approach that aligns environmental stewardship with social welfare, reinforcing the bank’s broader sustainability agenda.
Beyond these flagship initiatives, Sohar International continued to implement a wide range of programs throughout Ramadan under its Sohar Al Atta’a platform. These included the distribution of essential food supplies to low-income households across selected wilayats, support for humanitarian initiatives such as Fak Kurbah, and collaborations with charitable organizations across the Sultanate. The bank also contributed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure through partnerships with relevant institutions, while advancing women empowerment initiatives focused on transforming traditional skills into sustainable income-generating opportunities.
In addition, Sohar International engaged customers and the wider community through a series of Ramadan-focused experiences, including iftar gatherings, SME engagement platforms, and customer campaigns developed in partnership with leading entities. These efforts were designed to enhance customer value, foster community interaction, and celebrate the cultural spirit of Ramadan.
Through this holistic approach, Sohar International continues to demonstrate that its role extends beyond financial services—positioning itself as a key contributor to community development, environmental responsibility, and inclusive economic growth across the Sultanate.
