South Korea Expands FTA Strategy to Boost Exports and Supply Chain Stability
Seoul: South Korea plans to expand its free trade agreement (FTA) network with emerging markets, including Latin America and Africa, as part of efforts to diversify supply chains, Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol said today.
Koo noted that the move aims to support export growth and respond to shifts in the global trade environment.
He explained that international trade is undergoing structural changes due to weakening multilateral trade systems and increasing competition among major economies, which requires a strategic expansion of trade partnerships.
The minister added that South Korea will work to broaden its FTA network to include emerging markets such as Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa to strengthen supply chain resilience.
South Korea has so far signed 21 free trade agreements covering 59 countries, according to the Finance Ministry.
