    Spain Evacuates More Than 1,000 as Wildfires and Flash Floods Hit Several Regions

    Madrid: Spanish authorities have evacuated more than 1,000 people and reported 11 injuries as wildfires and torrential rains triggering flash floods affected several regions across the country.

    In the Valencia region, around 1,000 residents were evacuated from the municipality of Gatova after a wildfire that began in nearby Segorbe spread rapidly, burning an estimated 633 hectares.

    Firefighting operations are continuing, with approximately 350 personnel and 25 aircraft deployed to contain the blaze.

    Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in Catalonia caused widespread flooding and left 11 people injured, with one person reported to be in critical condition.

    Rescue teams carried out dozens of operations to assist people trapped by floodwaters inside vehicles and buildings. Around 400 people were also evacuated from a campsite and recreational facility in Roda de Berà.

    The heavy rainfall flooded roads, streets and residential properties and disrupted rail services in several areas.

    Authorities are facing a complex emergency as high temperatures and dry conditions continue to increase the risk of wildfires, adding to the impact of the severe weather across the country.
