Vintage and Classic Car Rally concludes in Oman

The Oman Automobile Association (OAA) and the Sabq Old Cars Endurance Organization, sponsored by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, organized a “Badawi” classic car rally in a number of governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, starting from the Buraimi Governorate and passing through the governorates of Al-Dhahirah, Al-Dakhiliyah, North and South Al-Sharqiyah, Muscat Governorate, South Al-Batinah, and ending in North Al-Batinah. 

The rally took place through many heritage and tourist sites in the governorates, covering a distance estimated at 1,400 kilometers in 3 days between 23 to 25 October 2023. With the participation of 47 classic and old cars, this rally includes cars that are more than 50 years old, through which participants cover long distances to endure as a kind of sports tourism tour.

The organization of this rally aims to hold a sports tourism rally with old cars, promote tourist areas and contribute to conveying the culture of the countries through this rally, which is considered a distinctive tour of rare, old cars from various countries of the world.

Regarding this participation, Sulaiman bin Abdullah bin Ali Al Rawahi, Director General of the Oman Automobile Association, confirmed that the Association is interested in hosting these events in Oman in cooperation with its partners, with the aim of promoting tourism and sporting events and contributing to the important role of motor sports and what can be delivered from it.

Such events are important to host in the Sultanate of Oman, similar to various other events that have a return on the economic, tourism, cultural and social aspects.

It is worth noting that the rally before arriving in the Sultanate of Oman, has commenced in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, passing through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and then the United Arab Emirates.
