    Emirates Bans In-Flight Power Banks Over Lithium Battery Safety Fears

    Emirates Airline will ban the in-flight use of all power banks on its flights starting Oct. 1, 2025, citing safety concerns over lithium battery incidents.

    Passengers will still be allowed to carry one power bank onboard under specific conditions, but using it to charge devices or recharging the power bank itself during the flight will be prohibited, the Dubai-based carrier said in a statement.

    The policy applies across Emirates’ global network and includes new storage and labeling requirements. Only one power bank per passenger will be allowed, with a capacity of up to 100 watt-hours and a clearly marked rating.

    Power banks must be stowed in seat pockets or under the seat and are not permitted in overhead compartments, the airline added.

    The move follows industry-wide scrutiny of lithium battery safety, particularly concerning portable charging devices.
