    • Qatar beat UAE to qualify for 2026 World Cup

    Qatar beat the United Arab Emirates 2-1 on Tuesday to book their spot in the 2026 World Cup. It will be a second straight appearance at the finals for Qatar, who hosted the last edition in 2022.

    Only victory in their final round four qualifying match would have sufficed to send Qatar to football’s showpiece tournament, and second-half strikes by Boualem Khoukhi and Pedro Miguel sealed the deal in Doha despite a late Sultan Adil goal for the UAE.
