Heavy Rains Boost Oman’s Dam Reserves to 24.47 Million Cubic Meters

Muscat: The total volume of water retained in dams across the Sultanate of Oman reached 24.47 million cubic meters following recent weather conditions that affected several governorates between March 20 and 22.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources reported that in Muscat Governorate, water retention reached 5.7 million cubic meters in Wadi Dayqah Dam and 0.99 million cubic meters in Al-Sabab Dam.

In South Al Batinah Governorate, Al-Falij Dam recorded 1.1 million cubic meters, Al-Taw Dam 5 million cubic meters, and Al-Maawil Dam 4.6 million cubic meters.

In Musandam Governorate, Khub Al Shamsi Dam stored 0.4 million cubic meters, Al Sarouj Dam 0.45 million cubic meters, and Sahna Dam 0.13 million cubic meters.

The Ministry also noted that Al Sudaireen Dam and Surur Dam in Al Dhahirah Governorate reached full capacity.

In North Al Batinah Governorate, Saih Al-Barir Dam recorded 0.02 million cubic meters, while Al-Aqida and Al-Naba dams were reported full.

In North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, water retention reached 0.35 million cubic meters in Qafifa Dam and 0.01 million cubic meters in Al-Wariya Dam.
