    Shinas Port Handles More Than 2.34 Million Tonnes of Cargo in First Half of 2026

    Shinas:  The total volume of goods handled at Shinas Port in North Al Batinah Governorate reached 2,341,498 tonnes during the first half of 2026, covering import and export activity.

    The port has witnessed active movement in cargo handling, supported by its strategic location and connectivity with regional and international trade routes, strengthening its role in Oman’s maritime transport and logistics sector.

    Khatir bin Ali Al Maamari, Chief Operating Officer of Shinas Port, said the port plays an important role in Oman’s logistics sector due to its strategic location and its links with international markets.

    He noted that imports accounted for the largest share of cargo handled during the period, reaching 2,322,695 tonnes, while exports amounted to 18,802 tonnes.

    The port received 1,837 ships during the first six months of 2026, representing an increase of approximately 156% compared with the same period last year.

    Building and construction materials were among the main categories of imported goods during the period, while general goods accounted for the largest share of exported cargo.

    Al Maamari added that 103 transshipment operations were carried out during the first half of 2026, an increase of 30% compared with the corresponding period last year, when 2,296,483 tonnes of cargo were handled.

    The indicators highlight the growing role of Shinas Port in supporting Oman’s trade activity and improving the efficiency of maritime and shipping services across regional and international routes.
