    Oman Air Boosts Salalah Seat Capacity 16% During Dhofar Khareef 2026

    Muscat: Oman Air increased its seat capacity to Salalah by 16% during the Dhofar Khareef Season 2026 compared with the previous year, contributing to stronger air connectivity and increased passenger traffic to the governorate.

    The national carrier transported approximately 270,000 passengers between mid-June and mid-September 2026, representing a 9% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

    June recorded the strongest growth, with passenger traffic increasing by 24% compared with the corresponding period last year.

    To meet increased demand in August, Oman Air operated up to 15 flights a day to Salalah, including additional services using its wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft to provide greater seat capacity.

    The airline also expanded regional connectivity in July by launching three weekly flights between Dubai and Salalah, providing more than 4,900 additional seats per month.

    In addition, Oman Air operated charter flights from Bahrain during July and August, supporting inbound tourism to Dhofar.

    Nasser Al Sharji, CEO of Oman Air, said the national carrier remains committed to supporting Oman’s tourism sector by increasing visitor traffic, strengthening air connectivity and contributing to local economic growth.

    He explained that the airline increased capacity and introduced additional services during the Khareef season to provide travellers with more options to visit Salalah.

    Al Sharji stressed that supporting domestic destinations such as Salalah remains a national priority and said Oman Air will continue working to connect more travellers with destinations across Oman.

    He added that Oman Air will continue supporting Dhofar Governorate as a year-round tourism destination, with the Dubai-Salalah route continuing to connect the governorate with regional markets.

    The airline is also exploring opportunities to expand its network and is working to resume charter flights between Moscow and Salalah, which are expected to further support tourist arrivals to Dhofar.
