H H Sayyid Shihab Chairs Meeting of Social Protection Committee

Muscat: The ministerial committee entrusted with the Social Protection Scheme today held a meeting under the auspices of HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Chairman of the Social Protection Committee.

The meeting was attended by ministers who are members of the Committee. The meeting discussed a number of topics on its agenda and took appropriate decisions in their regard.

The meeting also touched on the main indicators of the number of beneficiaries of social protection benefits, as well as indicators of insured persons.

The meeting discussed the annual plans of two related funds: the “Social Protection Fund” and the “Military and Security Services Retirement Fund”. One of the most important objectives of the Social Protection Committee is the evaluation and monitoring of the performance of the Social Protection Scheme.

The overall aim is to ensure the application of a fair, functional and sustainable insurance coverage for all segments of society and to achieve the objectives set for the Social Protection Scheme.
