Al Buraimi’s Manufacturing Sector Grows to 445 SMEs, Supporting Oman’s Economy

Al Buraimi: Manufacturing industries are among the prominent sectors in the business landscape of Al Buraimi Governorate, with the number of enterprises operating in the sector reaching 445 by the end of 2025, according to data from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.

The sector contributes to supporting the local economy and creating growth opportunities for small and medium enterprises, while benefiting from Al Buraimi’s strategic location and proximity to domestic and GCC markets and airports.

The investment sector in Oman has also witnessed continued growth, reflecting increased support for businesses and investors. Official indicators for 2025 showed that 106 financing loans were provided, with a combined value exceeding RO 13.04 million.

These indicators highlight the importance of continued support for manufacturing enterprises through product development, improved efficiency and productivity, expanded marketing channels, and stronger links to investment opportunities and value chains.

Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Hajri, owner of Al Taif Engineering Industries and Metal Structures, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that his project specialises in manufacturing structures, trailers, tanks and mobile camps for the oil and gas, construction, military and government sectors in accordance with quality standards.

He said the project currently has a production capacity of 30 trailers per month, with a target of increasing output to 100 trailers per month through automation and modern technologies.

The company is seeking to expand its presence in the domestic market and increase exports, which currently extend to GCC countries, Yemen, Sudan and Libya.

Al Hajri noted that the project has contributed to employment and development by creating more than 24 direct jobs for Omani nationals in administrative, technical and engineering fields, while working to increase Omanisation and strengthen national skills.

He added that the project also supports the training and qualification of university students and graduates of technical and vocational colleges by providing opportunities to gain practical experience in a real manufacturing environment.

These efforts contribute to transferring technical knowledge and developing the capabilities of Omani youth.

Al Hajri also highlighted the role of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in facilitating financing and procedures and supporting businesses through the Riyada card, helping enterprises participate in tenders and addressing challenges faced by national project owners.

The development of manufacturing industries in Al Buraimi reflects the governorate’s growing role in supporting SMEs, creating employment opportunities and strengthening industrial activity and trade links with local and regional markets.
